I mention all this, in case anyone else runs into similar issues while trying to get the drivers either uninstalled or installed. Finally after clearing and disconnecting everything again, everything worked exactly as expected after I ran theSoftware as administrator. After cancelling out of this it left a half installed drivers/software set which I had to uninstall again.
